- A -
A kind of dream (Choral fantasy)
Is it a kind of dream
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream
Oh is it a dream?
There's a fog along the horizon
A strange glow in the sky,
And nobody seems to know where you go
And what does it mean.
Oh oh is it a dream?

Bright eyes burning like fire
Bright eyes how can you close and fail
Bright eyes
Bright eyes burning like fire
Bright eyes how can you close and fail
Bright eyes

A winter's tale
(Tim Rice & Mike Batt)

The nights are colder now,
Maybe I should close the door,
And anyway the snow
Has covered all your footsteps
And I can follow you no more.

The fire still burns at night,
My memories are warm and clear;
But everybody knows
It's hard to be alone
At this time of year.

Refrain:
It was only a winter's tale,
Just another winter's tale,
And why should the world take notice
Of one more love that's failed?
It's a love that can never be,
Though it meant a lot to you and me;
On a worldwide scale
We're just another winter's tale.

While I stand alone
A bell is ringing far away;
I wonder if you hear,
I wonder if you're listening,
I wonder where you are today?

Good luck! I wish you well,
For all that wishes may be worth;
I hope that love and strength
Are with you for the length
Of you're time on earth.

[Refrain]

Hetken unta vain
(A winter's tale)

Action express
???
A hiding to nothing
Refrain:
Could it be that my vision is failing?
Could it be that the colour is changing?
It doesnít seem to be fun anymore,
No fun any more.
It started well, it started fine.
It started well, it started fine.
But now my feelingís changed:
I think, I might be on
A Hiding To Nothing.

I woke to the sound of blood in the afternoon shade,
I wandered around, in search of the friends I had made.
They must have left me in the summer,
As I looked across the bay.
I thought I had found some love,
But I let it slip away.

[Refrain]

A place with no emotion
I seem to be flying to a place,
A place with no emotion.
It brings me down,
It really brings me down.

Amy floats downstream
Rolling
With the tide
Amy floats downstream;
Now she
Dreams of me
Amen

Bad men
Over there
Shot my daddy down.
Nothing
I could do
Amen

2 x Refrain:
Hey,
Everybody
Look away from the screen
Look away while Amy floats downstream

After
Nights of fear
Georgie went away,
Ooh, itís
Lonely now,
Amen

Rolling
With the tide
Amy floats downstream;
Now she
Dreams of me
Amen

[2 x Refrain]

Everywhere you go
Nobody wants to know, or
Gives a damn
Looking
Away, pretending
Not to see,
Darling......

Rest there
While you can
All the pain is gone,
No more
Days like these,
Amen.

[2 x Refrain]

- B -
Ballerina (Prima donna)
B
allerina (prima donna)
Take your shoes and your shellac
Get out of my life and don't come back
I've played your games for far too long

Was it you who mesmerised me or the Covent Garden lights
That thrilled and hypnotised me on those long fantastic nights?
You nearly took me in, you wore that smile upon your face
But I began to wake up when I saw behind the make-up and the lace

Refrain:
Ballerina (prima donna)
Take your shoes and your shellac
Get out of my life and don't come back
I've played your games for far too long
Ballerina (prima donna)
Take your tantrums and your lies
Take your moods and your midnight cries
I won't miss you when you're gone

Now that I know you well I see your love affair was just a fling
So with these final words I leave this crazy circus ring
I cry no wasted tears as I show you to the door
You can love or you can hate me but you won't manipulate me any more

[Refrain]

3 times
Ballerina (prima donna), I won't miss you when you're gone

Berber's prayer
(instr. / spoken voice: Seoud Islam)

Better than a dream

I used to dream myself to somewhere else each night,
I dreamed in colour, 'cause I lived in black and white,
Until I chanced upon this road that led to you,
I could not see, how anything could be...

Refrain:
Better than a dream
, stranger than my wild imagination,
If this is a real sensation
It's better than a dream.
Higher than the moon, hazy like a beautiful illusion,
Crazy and in confusion
And better than a dream.

I used to wish I was beyond some distant door,
I knew there must be more to life and now I'm sure,
No dream of pirate caves or indian braves,
Or magic carpets could ever be this good.

[Refrain]

[Instrumental break]

Higher than the moon,
hazy like a beautiful illusion,
Crazy and in confusion
And better than a dream.

Blue shoes
These blue shoes seem to suit me well,
When I feel like hell,
As I do now that you're gone
Lost and lonely since you stopped caring,
I've been wearing my new shoes.
I've been wearing my blue shoes.

You and I made the perfect pair,
It don't seem fair,
I loved you more than you know.
Sorry I'm such a sorry state,
But while I wait for some good news,
I'll be wearing my blue shoes.

Don't feel like walking strong,
Shufflin' along on my way home.
Trudgin' down that shopping street,
Where we used to meet.
But I ain't buying.
I'm wearing my blue shoes and crying.

These blue shoes seem to suit my sould,
Since you shot that hole.
Since you shot that hole in my heart
And if I wind up on the sidewalk bleeding
I won't be needing my new shoes
Won't be needing my blue shoes.

These blue shoes seem to suit me well
When I feel like hell,
As I do now that you're gone
Lost and lonely since you stopped caring
I've been wearing my new shoes
I've been wearing my blue shoes.

Bright eyes
Is it a kind of dream
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream
Oh is it a dream?
There's a fog along the horizon
A strange glow in the sky,
And nobody seems to know where you go
And what does it mean.
Oh oh is it a dream?

Refrain:
Bright eyes burning like fire
Bright eyes how can you close and fail
How can the light that burns so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Is it a kind of shadow
Reaching into the night
Wandering over the hills unseen,
Or is it a dream?
There's a high wind in the trees
A cold sound in the air
And nobody ever knows when you go
And where do you start
Oh oh, into the dark.

[Refrain]

Por que brillan tus ojos
 (Javier Garay / Mike Batt)
???

Bird of prey
(Mike Batt & Ben Findon)

The sun was hot, she was cool
Followed me after school

And she was like a bird of prey
She took me up and flew away

Flying high on her own
Fingernails overgrown

And all I wanted was to die
When she came screaming from the sky

Like a hawk at break of day
Eagle-eyed sheíll make her play
She took me up and flew away
Hey, hey, hey, bird of prey

Flashing eyes burning bright
Telling eyes in the night

And all I wanted was to die
When she came screaming from the sky

Like a hawk at break of day
Eagle-eyed sheíll make her play
She took me up and flew away
Hey, hey, hey, bird of prey

Like a hawk at break of day
Like a hawk at break of day
Like a hawk of break of day

Blame it on the moon
Gonna blame it on the moon,
Didnít want to fall in love again so soon.

I was fine, feeling strong,
Didnít want to fall in love with anyone.

Now that itís gone too far to call for a halt,
Iíll blame it on the moon
ĎCause itís not my fault;
I didnít think Iíd this would happen so soon
So Iíll blame it on the moon.

I was happy to be free
Didnít think Iíd give myself so easily.

Guilty feelings in the night
As I wonder is it wrong to feel so right.

Now that itís gone too far to call for a halt,
Iíll blame it on the moon
ĎCause itís not my fault;
I didnít think Iíd this would happen so soon
So Iíll blame it on the moon.

Gonna blame it on the moon,
Didnít want to fall in love again so soon.

I was fine, feeling strong,
Didnít want to fall in love with anyone.

Now that itís gone too far to call for a halt,
Iíll blame it on the moon
ĎCause itís not my fault;
I didnít think Iíd this would happen so soon
So Iíll blame it on the moon.

Buenos dias, capitan
Refrain:
Buenos dias, Capitan,
Don't let this boat go down,
Muy buenos dias, Capitan.
I was hoping secretly that I would live a long time,
(Or at least a little longer).
Buenos dias, Capitan,
Don't let this boat go down,
Muy buenos dias, Capitan.

I've gotta lotta reasons why I don't wanna sink,
(A heart full of love; a picture in my pocket),
I'm small enough already so I don't wanna shrink,
And you can see it would be inconvenient to end up in the drink.

[Refrain]

I wouldn't have the energy to swin for the land,
(I'd sink like a stone; down to the bottom)
I'm waiting with inflated water wings in my hand,
'Cause I don't think I have to tell you drowning doesn't fit into my plans.

Call off the search
I wonít spend my life
Waiting for an angel to descend
Searching for a rainbow with an end
Now that Iíve found you Iíll call off the search

And I wonít spend my life
Gazing at the stars up in the sky
Wondering if love will pass me by
Now that Iíve found you Iíll call off the search

Out on my own
I would never have known this world
That I see today
And Iíve got a feeling
It wonít fade away

And I wonít end my days
Wishing that love would come along
'Cause you are in my life where you belong
Now that Iíve found you Iíll call off the search.

Instrumental

[2 times]
Now that Iíve found you Iíll call off the search.

Can't lie no more
The rain that beat down on the roof last night,
Was falling loud and strong,
But that ain't why I couldn't sleep.
My lies were fighting with the truth last night,
I've lied for far too long,
I think the time has come to speak,
The time has come to speak.

Refrain:
'Cause Baby, I can't lie no more,
Though I know it causes you pain that I can't mend,
Last night I said I loved you but I lied to you again,
Oh, Baby I can't lie no more.
And Baby don't you cry no more,
Don't forget the time when our love was deep and wide,
I always will remember how it was before it died.
Oh, Baby I can't lie no more.

Though there is sadness in your weary face,
We used to laugh a lot,
And I hate to see it end,
I know the world can be a lonely place
When the laughing has to stop,
I won't fall in love again,
I won't fall in love again.

[Refrain]
But Baby, I can't lie no more, ...

Children of the storm
Baby, there is something in my mind's eye.
Save me, I've been reading all the signs by night.
You were the only one who took me from the underworld,
I was the fool who stood out in the rain.

We are the children of the storm,
We are the children of the storm,
Aaaaah, in the morning light,
We are the children of the storm.

Baby, I've been looking in your window,
Baby I've been watching all the ships go down.
You were the only one who came when I was falling,
Into the smoke across the skyline.

We are the children of the storm,
We are the children of the storm,
Aaaaah, in the morning light,
We are the children of the storm.

We are the children of the storm,
We are the children of the storm,
Aaaaah, in the morning light,
We are the children of the storm.
Caravan song
The early light is breaking,
The morning sun is waiting in the sky,
And I think I'm gonna break away,
And follow where the birds of freedom fly,
I need to live,
I need to give;
[B.Dickson:  I need to give, I need to live;
For the world is slowly turning,
And the lights of love are burning in my eyes.

Refrain:
Caravans,
Oh, my soul is on the run,
Overland, I am flying;
Caravans,
Moving out into the sun,
Oh, I don't know where I'm going, but I'm going.

I wish I had the wisdom
To find some simple words to make you see,
That the things that mean a lot to you
Don't always seem to mean a lot to me.
I need to breathe.
I need to leave;
When the sands of time go drifting by
I may be on my own, but I'll be free.

Classical music, we love it to death!

Helena (A.M. Kaufmann)
All of my friends are classical snobs,
They do not approve of you;
They think you do drugs and sing like a frog,
When only the latter is true,

Ha ha ha ha ha ha, only the latter is true.

Don't tell me you can't dance
Don't tell me there are no steps you can take
Don't tell me there is no difference you can make
Don't turn away and don' t ever say
There's no chance, like you never tried
To tell me you can't dance

It seems the easy thing to say
You think it can't be done
That thing will never fly
When there's a chance
To turn away
Or give it one more time
Don't try to learn the way to turn
Go with your feelings every time.

Don't tell me there are no steps you can take
Don't tell me there is no difference you can make
Don't turn away and don' t ever say
There's no chance, like you never tried
To tell me you can't dance
Don't trust the angels
There are no answers, there is no guide,
We are like sailors blown on the tide,
Eyes in the shadows, faces in dreams,
Love if you're lucky to know what it means,

But...

Refrain:

Don't trust the angels you meet along the way,
Who make it clear that heaven's here
And everything will be OK
Just trust the angels who tell you in the night
There's hell on earth but it's worth the fight.

Hiding from heaven, down in the dirt,
I am a soldier, born to be hurt.
Cries in the silence, lies in the dark,
I will forever hold you in my heart,
So...

Escaping from a maze
I keep thinking that I see a light in the distance,
A glow at the end of this tube,
And I wonder if someone up there is testing my resistance,
And I wonder if he wonders if Iíll ask him for assistance,
And I wonder if I should.

Refrain:
Since I donít know the way,
Iím beginning to think Iíve been led astray.
I could spend all the rest of my days,
Escaping from a maze.
I have looked all around,
But I canít find my way back to open ground.
I could spend all the rest of my days,
Escaping from a maze.

The restrictions that I feel are stimulating my reactions,
But I wonít be giving up without a fight.
I believe there may be someone watching me with satisfaction,
Who believes that I believe that this will drive me to distraction;
I believe he could be right.

[Refrain]

And when I think I have received some indication,
If I run, I remain standing still.
And I think whoeverís watching me can see my situation.
And I think he might be thinking Iíll be beaten by frustration,
And I wonder if I will.

[Refrain]

Each time I turn a different corner,
I meet with a different wall,
And each door that I open
Doesnít lead to anywhere at all.

[Refrain]

So, here am I, travelling still,
To I donít know where.
Out on my own, travelling still,
Spinning in the air.
So, here am I, travelling still,
To I donít know where.

Fading yellow
Merrily she went away,
Through the brightly coloured day.
Has no dreams to lead her astray,
Dressed all in yellow.
Like a bell that's never rung,
There's no friends to tell her so,
Like a song that's never sung,
Dressed all in yellow.

This is nothing new
For the world's been spinning round for a year or two,
Soon she won't know what to do,
Dressed all in yellow.

When the darkness closes in,
She will wonder where to go.
Going home and ??????????
In fading yellow. (????)

And she'll cry and say I'm going home
And the atmosphere is growing cold,
And I need someone to hold.
In the middle of the night
She remembers songs she knew.
In the dying and all life,
?????????????

This is nothing new
For the world's been spinning round for a year or two,
Soon she won't know what to do,
Dressed all in yellow.

Fishing for the moon

I tried to talk to you again the other day,
Either you didn't notice me, or you had nothing to say.
Well, I just want to tell you I won't let you get away
So easily.
I watched the moon last night, reflected in the sea,
Just like you, it was so far away
But still it seemed so reachable to me.

Refrain:
They say I'm only fishing for the moon
To think I'd stand a chance of making you mine.
I know I'm only fishing for the moon,
But I'm still gonna cast my line.

And if the moon won't bite the line, I'll reel it in,
And if they laugh at me, (me and my piece of string),
Well, I'll just put another piece of bread upon the pin,
And cast again.
The book is open if you want to place a bet,
You can be shure, one of these moonlit nights,
I'm gonna land it safely in the net.

Frith's blessing
Narrator: Gary Martin

Long ago, when Frith made the world, all the animals were the same. They lived together, sharing the sweet grass of the hills. El-ahrairah was the father of all the rabbits. Soon his children covered the whole world, eating so much that there was none for the other animals. "El-ahrairah, you must control your people. There are too many."
"That is because you made them the best in the world Lord Frith. I can't control them."
"Then, I will do it El-ahrairah."
Frith summoned the animals to his sun-cave to grant them a gift, making each one different from the other. To the fox and weasel he gave claws and teeth and the desire to hunt and kill El-ahrairah 's people.
When El-ahrairah heard about this, he knew Frith was angry with him and his people. He feared what Frith might do next. He dug a hole, but he had dug only a little of it when Frith came over the hill, alone.
"El-ahrairah, come out and I'll give you your blessing."
"I can't. The fox and the weasel are after me."
As he spoke, El-ahrairah 's tail grew shiny white and flashed like a star. His back legs grew long and powerful and he tore across the hill faster than any creature in the world.
"El-ahrairah, your people cannot rule the world, for I will not have it so. All the world will be your enemy; Prince, with a thousand enemies. And whenever they catch you they will kill you. But first, they must catch you. Digger, Listener, Runner, Prince; with a swift warning: Be cunning, and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

Ghost town
(Katie Melua & Mike Batt)

The thing that makes me feel the most down,
Is the feeling that Iím living in a ghost town.
Barn door banginí in my face,
Like tumbleweed,
Iím rolling Ďround this place.

I see you arriving at the station,
But itís only my imagination.
So Iím begging on my knees,
Turn around,
And save me, baby, please.

From this ghost town,
I feel like giving in,
Since you left Iím living in,
An old ghost town.

Hey kid, I remember all the laughter,
Especially when we woke the morning after.
Why did you have to go away,
Leaving me to wander every day.

In this ghost town,
I feel like giving in,
Since you left Iím living in,
An old ghost town.

We were born to ride,
Side by side.
We are always reaching for the stars,
And they can still be ours.

(If you free me from this)

Ghost town,
I feel like giving in,
Since you left Iím living in,
An old ghost town.
I feel like giving in.
Since you left Iím living in,
An old ghost town.

I feel like giving in,
Since you left Iím living in,
An old ghost town.

Living in an old ghost town.

Halfway up the Hindu Kush
(Mike Batt & Katie Melua)

The first time that I saw you
I said "for goodness sake
That man's got the power
he's a charmer with a snake"
I was thrille and fascinated
but somehow liberated,
When you took me to a place I'd never been.
You showed me lots of things I'd never seen

You set me free
As if you'd taken me,
Halfway up the Hindu Kush
And I love you,
For showing me the view
From halfway up the Hindu Kush

The next time that I saw you, you looked into my eyes
I was sitting on your carpet when I felt it begin to rise.
I kinda got the feeling,
I was floating to the ceiling,
Instead of looking at the sky
You picked me up and showed me how to fly.

You set me free, as if you'd taken me,
Halfway up the Hindu Kush
And I love you
For showing me the view,
From halfway up the Hindu Kush

From halfway up the Hindu,
From halfway up the Hindu,
From halfway up the Hindu Kush.

You set me free, as if you'd taken me,
Halfway up the Hindu Kush
And I love you,
For showing me the view,
From halfway up the Hindu Kush.
Halfway up the Hindu Kush.
High like an angel
Don't know what I did so right to be with you,
But it's the only way to fly.
I don't dare to wonder where we're going to,
I don't dare to wonder why
I just let you take me:

Refrain:
High like an angel,
Free like a river.
Warm like a lover,
I'm gonna be brave like a soldier,
Strong like an eagle,
Soft like a lady,
Safe like a baby in the arms of a mother,
High like an angel, warm like a lover.

Don't believe I've live without you all these years,
Can't believe that I got by.
It's like the moment when the cavalry appears,
Just as the girl's about to die
You know you make me:

[Refrain]

And this love will surely grow
As our life goes slowly by,
And it feels so good to know
You'll be there to make me:

[Refrain]
- I -
I didn't have a prayer
Whatever drew you to my side that night was meant to be.
Whatever magic tricks you tried that night they worked on me.
Acting like you waited all your life for me
And you always knew;
I'd fall for you.

Refrain:
I didn't have a prayer,
I didn't stand a chance my love,
From the moment when I saw your face,
I didn't have a prayer.
I couldn't walk away from you,
I didn't want to try my love,
From the moment when I saw you there,
I didn't have a prayer.

Feelings that you've never known at all you never miss.
But somehow I've always known I'd fall in love like this.
It started off as something deep and wonderful
Then it slowly grew.
My love for you.

[2 x Refrain]

I dine alone
There's something said about a table for one,
People presumed the worst.
I never had a table for one,
This is my first.
I see the sympathetic faces,
They don't know how good I feel
Or who I'm thinking of.
There's nothing wrong with drinking wine alone,
I dine alone, cause I'm in love.

Refrain:
When we were together,
When you were at home,
Do you remember, we used to say we were sorry
For those who dined alone.
Till we are together,
Though you've always known,
I write this letter
To say I love you forever so tonight I dine alone.

We felt so bad when we said goodbye
When you got on the train.
I hope we'll never have to say goodbye
Ever again.
I wish that I could tell those people
They don't need to worry,
I don't need their kind concern.
There's nothing wrong with spending time alone,
I'm fine alone, till you return.

[2 x Refrain]

Idiot school

If there was an idiot school
I would be the top of the class
I know I acted the fool
I know I failed on myÖ

Ask me why I left you high and dry
Only to wind up lonely
How could I be so cruel?
I mustíve been to idiot school

If there was a stupid degree
Iíd be a qualified klutz
You gave all your loving to me
I gave you a kick in theÖ

Not so long ago you loved me so
And I was your one and only
I threw away a jewel
I mustíve been to idiot school

We knew when I went away
That one day youíd forget me
Iíd come running back today
But you wonít let me

If there was an idiot school
I would be the top of the class
I know I acted the fool
I know I failed on myÖ

Ask me why I left you high and dry
Only to wind up lonely
How could I be so cruel?
I mustíve been to idiot school

If there was a stupid degree
Iíd be a qualified klutz
You gave all your loving to me
I gave you a kick in theÖ

Not so long ago you loved me so
And I was your one and only
I threw away a jewel
I mustíve been to idiot school

I feel like Buddy Holly
I watched the planes come in, on the early morning flights
But I could not stand, to see them land
Without you.
Now I'm thumbin' through my 45's on another endless night
And the same old lines, going back in time,
Tell me this is nothing new.

Well, I feel like Buddy Holly, c
ause it's raining in my heart
All the sad songs take me back to you now that we are apart.
Now I know how Paul McCartney felt when he got up to say
I wish it was Yesterday.

So, I sit here playing Solitaire, it's a game I know so well
Ever since that day, you called to say,
It's Over.
Now I've made my reservation at the heartbreak hotel
While I'm living without you, I'm thinking about you,
Like only the lonely do.

Well, I feel like Buddy Holly, cause it's raining in my heart
All the sad songs take me back to you now that we are apart.
Now I know what Paul Simon meant by the words he found
I wish I was Homeward Bound.

Well, I feel like Buddy Holly, cause it's raining in my heart
All the sad songs take me back to you now that we are apart.
Now I know how Paul McCartney felt when he got up to say
I wish it was Yesterday
I wish it was Yesterday
I wish it was Yesterday

Insh'allah
Your time has come, Insh'allah,
Your song is sung, Insh'allah.
Though you may think it easy
To laugh in my eyes,
Your time has come, Insh'allah.

I see wonderful things in you
Please take no notice of my aeroplane, it will not fly,
I am not going to go up there again, I don't know why.
And I want to say that I could tell you a tale or two,
And I want to say I see wonderful things in you.

Although my eyes are nearly open, I cannot see,
I want to know if you are here again, to visit me.
And I do not know why I should like you as much as I do,
But I want to say I see wonderful things in you.

And I want to know why I should like you as much as I do,
But I want to say I see wonderful things in you.
I see wonderful things in you.
I see wonderful things in you.

I will die in somebodyís arms tonight
When I step on a stage
And become someone else,
It suits me fine
To be playing a role, living a life thatís not mine
And just for a moment Iím free,
And Ďtil it ends I can pretend Iím not me...

Refrain:
I will die in somebodyís arms tonight,
After I drive him insane and leave him in sorrow,
Then with a bleeding heart Iíll fall in a pool of light,
And do it all over again,
All over again tomorrow,
All over again tomorrow.

[Refrain]

Then I awake in the cold light of day,
Where thereís no applause;
In this empty room
That used to be mine and yours,
And I catch myself hoping the phone will ring,
And youíll be calling to say youíre coming home.

Then I step on a stage
And become someone else,
Which suits me fine;
To be playing a role, living a life thatís not mine

Itís something Iím able to do
And just for a while I can forget about you...

Invisible

Refrain:

It's invisible
Love is invisible
Metaphysical
And physical
Love is invisible

Love is invisible
Love isÖ

Each night

When there's nobody there
There's a light

But you don't know from where
Feelings seem to arrive and disappear
You say you're looking for love
How will you know when it's here?

[Refrain]

In your mind, as it hides in your heart
'Til the time when it tears you apart
Sometimes something is wrong

You can't explain (you can't explain)
Just when you think love is gone
It comes along again

And in your mind, as it hides in your heart
'Til the time when it tears you apart

It's all in my head
(Katie Melua / Mike Batt)

Every night we fall into bed,
But itís all in my head.
Every night we fall in a heap,
And you kiss me to sleep.
And baby all the sleepy things you say,
Blow me away.
Till the next day,
When I find what we did and we said,
Was all in my head.

Every night you whisper to me,
This always will be.
Every night you smooth down my hair,
But youíre not really there.
And darling it seems as if we know,
Our love will grow.
And then the next day,
I find what we did and we said,
It was all in my head.

Drowsy, drinking,
I keep thinking,
Weíre not far apart.
Scared of waking,
Lonely, aching,
Just me and my hopeless heart.

Sleeping soundly,
Your arms around me.
Through the night we cruise,
Then I find itís in my mind,
That you stroke away my blues.

Every night we fall into bed,
But itís all in my head.
Every night we fall in a heap,
And you kiss me to sleep.
And baby all the sleepy things you say,
Blow me away.
Till the next day,
When I find what we did and we said,
It was all in my head.

It was all in my head.

It was all in my head.

I watch you sleeping
Refrain:
I watch you sleeping
Little angel face
And on behalf of the human race
Welcome to this crazy place.

I watch you sleeping
Innocent and free
I don't know what your dreams may be
And you don't know what you mean to me.

You have never heard the thunder
You have never seen the rain
But you can still feel the wonder
You can still feel the pain
And sometimes you look at me,
So wise and so sure
I could easily believe you have been here before.

[Refrain]

I won't be here forever
But as long as I'm around
I promise you I will never let you down
To help make a world you can feel worthy of
I would teach you to fly
On the wings of my love.

I watch you sleeping
Brave and unaware
You don't know yet, so you don't care
I want you to know that it's hard out there

[Refrain]

I watch you sleeping...

I Will Be There

Dedicated to Mike's "Magic" Mum Elaine Batt, * 1926 Ü 16th June 2013

She is like the lady down the road
Or just the woman up the street,
Like any mother you may know.

To me, she is the one who had it planned
To lead us all to Wonderland,
She always wanted us to go,
And she said:

Refrain:
Donít ever be lonely,
Remember, Iíll always care.
Wherever you may be
Remember I will be there.

And like another lady that we know
She has a smile so bright and sweet,
And hair as white as driven snow;

Though life is never easy day to day,
She has a very special way
To make us smile when we are low.
And she says:

[Refrain]

If the lights go out
They say the world must end somehow
They say the end's not far from now
I think they're wrong
Don't worry your life away
Start living for today
Don't think about tomorrow

Refrain:
And if the lights go out
On all of us
In just a year or two
And if the sky falls down
Like pouring rain
Then I'll be here with you
I'll go down with you

Well I'm gonna try
For all I'm worth
To stay with you till the ends of the earth
Don't let me down
Don't let your feelings win
Don't give out and don't give in
Don't think about tomorrow

[2 x Refrain]

If you were a sailboat

If you were a cowboy I would trail you,
If you were a piece of wood Iíd nail you to the floor.
If you were a sailboat I would sail you to the shore.
If you were a river I would swim you,
If you were a house I would live in you all my days.
If you were a preacher Iíd begin to change my ways.

Sometimes I believe in fate,
But the chances we create,
Always seem to ring more true.
You took a chance on loving me,
I took a chance on loving you.

If I was in jail I know youíd spring me,
If I was a telephone youíd ring me all day long.
If I was in pain I know youíd sing me soothing songs.

Sometimes I believe in fate,
But the chances we create,
Always seem to ring more true.
You took a chance on loving me,
I took a chance on loving you.

If I was hungry you would feed me,
If I was in darkness you would lead me to the light.
If I was a book I know youíd read me every night.

If you were a cowboy I would trail you,
If you were a piece of wood Iíd nail you to the floor.
If you were sailboat I would sail you to the shore.

If you were sailboat I would sail you to the shore.

If you were sailboat I would sail you to the shore.

Imbecile
"With the eyes of a fool," he said,
"You see the state youíre in,
And still you stumble through your stupid life,
Still you laugh and grin;
Vagabound on a winding road
That only leads you down,
Blind to the dangers and dismay
That wipe the innocent smile away
From the face of a laughing clown."

Imbecile, you are acting like a fool again,
In a world of thieves all ready to run you down,
Imbecile, they are waiting till you make the first mistake,
And youíre going to make it,
Thatís why Iíll always call you an imbecile.

"You werenít always a sorcerer,"
The joker then replied,
"It seems to me you learned it on the way,
You live by tricks and lies;
Standing round in your jugglerís gown,
There seems no reason why;
Flashing your eyes and casting spells
With candles and signs and magic bells,
Oh, you are the fool, not I."

Imbecile, you can call me that if you feel the need,
But life is short an I am living it while I can.
If it rains, Iíll get wet but in the sunshine Iíll be dry,
It is you who are foolish,
Just Ďcause I laugh, donít call me an imbecile.

"We both are right," said the sorcerer,
"And both of us are wrong,
For though we walk this road we donít know where it leads,
We only know itís long.
You have something to learn from me,
And I can learn from you;
You with your jokes and simple plans
And me with my tricks and sleight of hand,
Together we could get through".

Imbecile, we are dancing down a darkened road,
Though the stars are out, not one of us knows the way.
Imbeciles up ahead of us and millions more behind,
And weíre laughing and smiling,
Thatís why I say weíre all of us imbeciles.

Into the sunset
Mike Batt:

The stories we could tell,
God knows what we've both been through,
You caught me when I fell,
The same as I did for you,
Mike Batt & Bonnie Tyler:
Don't let the wild winds blow out the flame,
It won't ever be the same.

Refrain (both):
Into the sunset once again together,
After the darkness and the rain,
Into the sunset we could ride forever,
There goes that dream again.

Bonnie Tyler:
The dangers that we face,
Are great if we let them be,
No army could replace,
The strength that you give to me,
Don't let the wild woods lead us astray,
And don't let us lose our way.

Both:
[2 x Refrain]

It seemed like a good idea at the time
Refrain:
Donít ask me why I did it,
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
There were no other amusements or games to play
To pass the night away.
Donít ask me why I did it,
I must have been lonely, stupid or blind,
But I know that it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It was 3 a.m. in the casino
I was feeling like the Sportsman of the Year.
So I blew a little money on the roulette wheel,
And I taught myself to play Chemin de fer.

[Refrain]

As the dawn came down on Monte Carlo,
I had lost the car and safe deposit key,
The country house in Switzerland was mine no more,
And the gendarme at the door said ďcíest la vie!Ē

Donít ask me why I did it,
I must have been lonely, stupid or blind,
But I know that it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It's only pain

Refrain:
It's only pain
it only hurts
I'm only down on the floor
where I've been before
and I'll be here again
though it hurts to loose you
It's only pain

We went so far
we flew so high
now it's not easy
to watch it die
Just let it go
and now that's the reason why
But it don't matter any more
(matter any more - matter any more)

[Refrain]

It's not my style
it's not my way
to see the future
shade to grey
though I seem
I can't bring myself to say
that you don't matter any more
(matter any more - matter any more)

[Refrain]

It's only pain
It's only pain
